Defence Minister Arun Jaitley during his first visit to Jammu & Kashmir after assuming office met J&K CM Omar Abdullah and top army officials in separate meetings to discuss the security situation along the LOC in Jammu & Kashmir.
JAITLEY DISCUSSES J&K SECURITY ISSUE WITH OMAR, ARMY OFFICERS
Army Chief General Bikram Singh who accompanied Jaitley on the visit was given a briefing about the current security scenario along the Line of Control and counter-insurgency operations in the area by Army officers.

In his meeting with Omar, Jaitley discussed the current security scenario in the state. Omar took to social networking site Twitter to talk about his meeting with Jaitley. The J&K CM’s tweet read, “Had a very productive meeting with Arun Jaitley in Srinagar this afternoon. Discussed matters related to both defence and finance with him.â€

He further tweeted, “Co-chaired an important security review with @arunjaitley. I’m glad he returns to Delhi with an appreciation of the situation & challenges.â€

Jaitley is expected to visit the forward areas along the Line of Control tomorrow and will interact with the troops stationed there.
