Assam chief minister, Tarun Gogoi had tendered his resignation after his party’s rout in the 2014 general elections. He had then taken full responsibility of the party’s poor performance in Assam The party high command however rejected it. The buzz is that there is a likely to be a change of guard in the Assam leadership. Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Mallikarjun Kharge has been sent to Assam to speak to all concerned and gauge their mood.
