With the onset of the Football World Cup, football fever has gripped the nation. The world’s most famous game reached the by-lanes of Assam when Guwahati was selected as one of the eight franchise cities of the proposed Indian Super League. Guwahati has found its place in the list of 8 cities for the first edition of the ISL in place of Chennai. The team was unveiled in an event in Guwahati where Bollywood actor and one of the owners John Abraham named his team as ‘North-East United Football Club.”
