Parents pray for safe return of their only daughter to India from Iraq’s war zone

Kochi, June 17 (ANI): Parents of a girl Silvy Varghese, who is stranded in Iraq’s war zone, prayed for her safe return. Varghese, 26, working as a nurse in Iraq hospital, had left India one and a half years back.

Varghese had called her parents on June 16 stating that conditions were getting worse with each passing day and they were not allowed to step outside the hospital as most of the girls wanted to return back home.

Meanwhile, Kerala Nurses Association has appealed the state and central governments to intervene urgently to ensure emergency evacuation of stranded nurses especially in Iraqi cities of Tikrit and Mosul.

A section of media reported that India would draw a plan to rescue 87 Indians, who are held up in Iraq’s Mosul and Tikrit – areas under attack by militants. Among 87 Indians, 41 construction workers are stuck in Mosul and 46 nurses from Kerala in Tikrit.
