Chennai, June 07 (ANI): Political fraternity condemned the abduction of an Indian aid worker in Afghanistan, and pressed the government to expedite action for his safe release.
Cutting across party lines, the leaders from various political parties urged the government to speed up the process for the release of priest Alexis Prem Kumar, who was kidnapped in Herat province of Afghanistan, earlier this month.
Leaders made personal appeal to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi to talk tough with Afghanistan government and press for safe release of the abducted priest. Meanwhile, CPI leader D Raja said that the abduction was human rights violations and the central government should work towards the release of the priest at the earliest.
Echoing similar sentiments, Senior Congress leader, Digvijay Singh said the Modi government should take every possible measure for the release of the worker.
