Time For Young Guns To Fill Up Big Shoes During B’desh Tour

With the likes of MS Dhoni, Virat Kohli, Ravindra Jadeja, Ravichandran Ashwin, Mohammad Shami, Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma all ready to skip the Bangladesh series where a second-string Indian side would take on Bangladesh in a three-match One Day International, it will be a test of character for young guns to fill in the big shoes.

With the Indian side without the likes of their regular captain and vice-captain MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli, it will provide an excellent opportunity to others to make the most of it. There are certain key players who can touch compelling peaks during the upcoming ODI series which boasts of players like Ajinkya Rahane, Parvez Rasool, Manoj Tiwari and Ambati Rayudu.

 

Eight first-choice picks have been rested to gauge the pool available for the 2015 World Cup. One-fifth of the squad is uncapped. While the likes of Cheteshwar Pujara who has proved his mettle in the longer format of the game has largely been untested in limited overs surrounds.

 

The series would also test Suresh Raina’s captaincy skills, who has been tasked to lead the depleted India side for the third time-running. The series would demand Raina to utilize all the knowledge and experience gained over the years. He will need to find a Virat Kohi among the playing probable to set up the game. And he will also need to find a suitable alternative for MS Dhoni who can finish the game.
