Shankaracharya alleged that worshipping Sai Baba is a conspiracy that has been started by Britain as they do not want India to remain a Hindu dominated country.

Shankaracharya said that Sai Baba was a human being and not God; hence temples should not be built in his name.

Shankaracharya added that it is assumed that Sai Baba is the epitome of Hindu-Muslim unity, but this thought would hold true only if both Hindu and Muslim communities worshipped him which is not the case.
