Saina Nehwal won’t participate in Glasgow Commonwealth Games

New Delhi: Women’s singles defending champion Saina Nehwal has pulled out of the Commonwealth Games to be held at Glasgow from July 23 to Aug 3.

“I won’t be participating at the Commonwealth Games. After the Australian Open win, I had got some blisters and did not get time to practice and prepare for the tournament. I cannot go to an event being only half fit and without practice,” Saina told IANS from Hyderabad Friday.

The Olympic bronze medallist won the CWG gold here in 2010 after defeating Malaysia’s Wong Mew Choo in the final.
