TMC has demanded an explanation in writing from the party’s actor-MP Tapas Pal within 48 hours for allegedly threatening to kill opposition CPI(M) workers and have their women raped if a single ruling party worker was attacked in West Bengal.

TMC leader Derek O’ Brien said that the statements made by Tapas Pal are utterly insensitive. He added the party does not in any way endorse what Pal said, which is being played out on TV channels.

The video which is allegedly reportedly a few weeks old shows Pal screaming threats of violence at rival party workers at Krishnanagar. Pal is seen saying“I will shoot you guys if a TMC worker is ever attacked. If you have the guts, then stop me…. If you insult the mothers and daughters of Trinamool workers, then I won’t spare you. I will let my boys loose in your homes and they will commit rape. I will teach each of you a lesson.â€
