At the time when tourism department of Jammu and Kashmir is doing different efforts to promote valley’s tourism potential, youth from valley also show a great deal of interest to be part of the initiative. Number of students who not only participate in ongoing tourism festival 2014, be it painting, road show, other cultural activities but also participating in water sports like Shikara marathon and Kayaking, Canoeing, Dragon Boat & canoe Polo.
WATER SPORTS ENCOURAGING FEMALE PARTICIPANTS IN VALLEY
What was interesting to see that besides Kashmiri boys’ young girls also participated in water sports activities. During this tourism festival the girls not only participated but also bagged awards for their best performance in the event. Afroza Bashir who is a national award winner in water sports such activities promote the more and more participation of girls.

According to Inspector General of Police Abdul Ganie Mir, who was the chief guest at the event, said that activities like water sports, adventurous sports create a good atmosphere in the valley.
