New York: Can you imagine the size of the world’s longest poop? Well, gross it may read but it is one metre in length and has an “eye-watering” pale brown-yellow colour.
The world’s longest poop of an unidentified dinosaur is set to go up for auction in Los Angeles July 22 and is expected to fetch between $8,000-$10,000 (Rs.472,000-Rs.590,000).
Found in Lewis county, Washington state, the fossilised excreta dates back to the Oligocene and Miocene Epochs that makes it anywhere from 5.3 to 33.9 million years old.
“This truly spectacular specimen is possibly the longest example of fossilised dinosaur feces ever to be offered at an auction,” Josh Chait, spokesperson for the Beverly Hills-based IM Chait gallery/auctioneers, was quoted as saying in media reports.
It has an even, pale brown-yellow colouring and detailed texture to the heavily globular surface across the whole of its length.
The poop is presented in four sections, each with a heavy black marble custom base, “an eye-watering 40 inches (one metre) in length overall”.
“The passer of this remarkable object is unknown, but it is, nonetheless, a highly evocative specimen of unprecedented size,” Josh added.
