Chennai: Actor Vishnu Manchu is happy with the response to his latest Telugu thriller “Anukshanam”. He has been getting appreciation from all quarters for his role as a police officer in hunt of a serial killer.
“We were quite confident that the film will thrill the audience and we are thankful it worked. I have been getting calls from everybody in the industry appreciating my performance,” Vishnu, who also produced the film, said in a statement.
Directed by Ram Gopal Varma, “Anukshanam” was sold to distributors through film auctioning.
It was released in a limited number of screens and Vishnu didn’t mind as it was made on a low budget.
“In the US, it just opened in 13 screens and in India at a mere 350 screens (unlike his earlier films such as ‘Denikaina Ready’ and ‘Doosukeltha’ that were released in over 800 to 900 screens),” read the statement.
“The budget of the film was also minuscule compared to my earlier films like ‘Pandavulu Pandavulu Tummeda’, which was made with a budget of Rs.30 crore, while ‘Anukshanam’ was made on just 20 percent of it,” he said.
The film also stars Navdeep, Tejaswi Madivada, Madhu Shalini and Revathi in important roles.
