Pune: Three Indians — Prajnesh Gunneswaran, N. Vijay Sundar Prashant and Purav Raja — scored contrasting wins to make it to the final round of the qualifiers of the $50,000A KPITA ATP Challenger tennis tournament here Sunday.
In an exciting second round qualifying match, Gunneswaran was given a scare by 40-year-old Pune war horse Nitten Kirrtane before winning 7-5, 7-6(4) in a two-hour tussle.
Prashant made easy work of Tejas Choukulkar winning 6-3, 6-4 while Raja outplayed Jatin Dahiya 6-2, 6-0, second seeded Riccardo Ghedin registered a 6-3,6-1 win over Concar Congsup of Thailand to make it to the last round of qualifiers.
