New Delhi: Congress MP and former Union Minister Shashi Tharoor, who was questioned for four hours by a special investigation team (SIT) in connection with his wife Sunanda Pushkar’s mysterious death, admitted before investigators that the couple had hit a rough patch in their marital life. However, he denied any proximity with Pakistan Journalist Mehr Tarar.
Delhi Police Commissioner BS Bassi said that Tharoor has so far totally cooperated during the interrogation and that further course of action will be taken after detailed report of the questions asked. Tharoor was interrogated at the Vasant Vihar police station in South Delhi last evening. According to reports, Tharoor was asked over 50 questions by a team of four officers in the first of three likely rounds of interrogation.Meanwhile, Politicos on Tuesday reacted as Delhi Police drilled Shashi Tharoor for almost four hours in Sunanda Pushkar murder case.
BJP leader Subramanian Swamy said that Tharoor should have been questioned way before as he is the main witness in the case. He said that the UPA government had already delayed the probe in the case and now it should pick up speed. He said that the best thing would be that he be taken to Tihar Jail and then a custodial interrogation be carried out.
Congress leader Abhishek Manu Singhvi said that BJP should stop speculating in criminal proceedings and that investigation is on. NCP Leader Tariq Anwar said that it is good that Tharoor cooperated in questioning and the law will take its own course.
