Patna: Bihar CM Jitan Ram Manjhi today made surprise visit to Raj Bhawan before start of joint session of Bihar Legislature and submitted his resignation to the Governor Keshari Nath Tripathi. Later the Assembly was adjourned sine die. The most awaited Governor’s address also did not happen.
Later speaking in the Assembly Manjhi said, “If there was secret ballot, 140 MLAs would have supported my government”. He even alleged that MLAs supporting him were given death threats. He reiterated that former CM Nitish Kumar acted like ‘Bhishma Pitamah’, did not utter a word when he was not allowed to do any work.
Reacting on his resignation, JDU party workers celebrated his victory. They slammed Manjhi for his reluctance to resign. JDU Leader K C Tyagi said that “We are hopeful that Bihar Governor will invite Nitish ji to stake claim of forming Govt now”.
Meanwhile, BJP refused to intervene directly in the matter even though they said that they would vote for Manjhi in the Assembly. “This was an internal matter of JDU, BJP had no role in this”, Shahnawaz Hussain was quoted saying. Party sources said that BJP stood for justice, we stood for a person from Maha Dalit Samaj, we have fulfilled our responsibility.
