New Delhi: The Central Government has decided to set up exclusive Transit Camps for the people of North Eastern States like Assam, Meghalaya, Tripura, Nagaland, Mizoram, Manipur and Arunachal Pradesh.
The Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, Kiren Rijiju has mooted transit camp accommodation exclusively for the people of the North-Eastern Region (NER) in metropolitan and other major cities.
In a meeting on Feb 12, Rijiju directed the Secretary, Ministry for Development of North-Eastern Region (DoNER) R. Vijaykumar to initiate a proposal for provision of separate budget allocation for this specific purpose.
Exclusive hostels for North-Eastern students would be setup in JNU and Ramanujan College in Delhi and that other Delhi University colleges including Hindu, Khalsa and Dayal Singh College.
