Jewish cemetery desecrated in North Eastern France

Fears mount as tombs are damaged at a Jewish cemetery in France. It happened near the northeastern city of Strasbourg — and authorities say five teenagers have been arrested.

The teens say they didn’t even realize it was a Jewish graveyard until they started destroying it.

But the news comes a day after a deadly shooting at a Denmark synagogue, which resembled an attack at a Jewish supermarket in Paris during three days of violence last month.

It’s also raising older fears in the Jewish community.

“A feeling of disgust and a certain fear as well. A certain fear as well, and a feeling of disgust, I greatly fear that we go back to the situation of the 1930s in Germany, which brought about what we already know.”

French Prime Minister Manuel Valls offered his assurances saying “The place for French Jews is France.”

Prosecutors say the motivations for the attacks is still unclear.
