Munger: The construction of 4 Lane Road Bridge across river Ganga between Sultanganj (Bhagalpur District) and Aguwani Ghat (Khagaria District) was started yesterday. It was inaugurated by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar in Sultanganj.
The Bridge having length of 3160m would be completed in 4.5 years. Upon complettion, the distance between Mithulanchal and Kosi region would be reduced by 50km and the distance between Munger and Khagariya would be reduced to 35km. The proposed bridge is located at a distance of around 200km from Patna.
The Cost of entire project is over Rs.1700 Crores and it would be completed under EPC mode. The project also includes 25km long roads on both sides of the bridge linking NH31 to NH80.
The Bridge would be a 2×2-lane bridge with footpath (i.e. two separate bridges having separate footing) of length 3160m including (150m+250m+150m) cable stayed spans.
The main objective of this bridge is reduction in overall travel time, overcoming traffic congestion, providing smooth connectivity and an alternative route to Vikramshila Setu.
