Kathmandu: A Turkish Airline plane lay in a field with its emergency slides deployed on Wednesday after it skid off the runway during landing at Nepal’s Tribhuvan International Airport.
Local media reported all 227 passengers and 11 crew members who were on board Flight TK726 were safe.
Two people were treated for minor injuries, local channel Avenues Television reported.
The Airbus A330, enroute to Kathmandu from Istanbul, crash landed at around 7:45a.m. (0200 GMT) on Wednesday morning, local media reported TIA’s Air Traffic Controller as saying.
The Air Traffic Controller also said the plane missed the runway’s central alignment, forcing the aircraft to skid on to grassy land, local media added.
Nepal has been experiencing heavy rainfall this week, and morning photographs circulating social media websites show fog surrounding the crashed aircraft.
