New Delhi: The family of India’s iconic freedom fighter Subhas Chandra Bose on Saturday demanded an investigation after declassified intelligence agency files revealed that former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru spied on Bose’s family for 20 years.

Netaji’s Family demands SIT Probe under Supreme Court Judge
Bose’s family on Saturday sought a probe by Special Investigation team (SIT) under the Supreme Court to judge leader’s disappearance on the day he is believed to have died.
They requested the Prime Minister to look into the matter. Modi, who is currently on a three-nation tour, will reach Germany on April 12, where he would also meet freedom fighter’s family members. BJP leader GVL Narasimha Rao said that the PM will surely address their grievances. Commenting on the reports, Congress party said the innuendo is tragic and reveals the ‘cheap politics’ of BJP.
Minister of State for Minority Affairs Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said the history of Congress was full of “misdeeds”. Congress leader PC Chacko said it is hard to believe Nehru spied on Bose’s family because both were colleagues and shared excellent rapport.
Meanwhile, AAP leader Ashutosh sought a probe into the entire saga. Samajwadi Party leader Naresh Agarwal dismissed the allegations. The Intelligence Bureau (IB) files reveal unprecedented surveillance on the Bose’s family between 1948 and 1968 and it was reported directly to Nehru. The agency intercepted, copied letters written by family and tailed their visits within country and abroad.
