Kathmandu: Rescue workers of India’s National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) pulled out a Nepalese woman alive, 50 hours after the Saturday’s powerful earthquake struck Nepal.
The quake and aftershocks toppled buildings, opening gaping cracks in the houses and sent people scurrying into the open, leaving many dead and injured in Nepal and its neighbouring Indian states of Bihar and Uttar Pradesh.
The lady was rushed to nearby hospital in Kathmandu where her upper body was said to be stable. Many of Kathmandu’s one million residents have slept in the open since Saturday’s quake, either because their homes were flattened or they were terrified that aftershocks would bring them crashing down.
