New York: Hundreds of citizens took to the streets of New York on Wednesday calling for justice after the death of Freddie Gray, who died in a hospital a week after suffering spinal injuries in police custody in Baltimore. His death sparked violent protests across Baltimore.
In New York, demonstrators chanted, “Hands up; Don’t shoot,” and “Black Lives Matter.”
In New York there were reports that several people were arrested.
According to one press release, organizers urged various activist groups to rally at NYC’s Union Square to “show the people of Baltimore that we stand in solidarity with them and with their resistance because their resistance is for justice and their justice is our justice.”
