Rahul Gandhi’s Kisan Padyatra earns him criticism of rival Parties

New Delhi: Taking a jibe at Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi’s ‘kisan padyatra’ from Amravati, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday said no one should be bothered by such antics. Other rival parties also pulled up the Congress vice president as he began his 15-km-long ‘kisan padyatra’ from Amravati during which he is meeting the farmers affected by unseasonal rains in Maharashtra.

During the Padyatra, Gandhi met the families of the farmers, who committed suicide due to crop failure resulting from unseasonable rains. The Congress vice-president, who recently returned from a 56-day break, has been vocal in his support for farmers and opposition to the Land Acquisition Bill.

During Zero Hour in the Parliament earlier on Wednesday, he criticized the government and asked whether the nation’s farmers were part of its ‘Make in India’ initiative. The Congress vice-president had visited Punjab earlier on Tuesday to assess the plight of the farmers. He also targeted Modi over his foreign visits and said that he should visit farmers in Punjab.
