New Delhi: Rajeev Shukla was reappointed as the Indian Premier League (IPL) Governing Council chairman, replacing the incumbent Ranjib Biswal. The former BCCI vice-president emerged as a compromise candidate for both the factions in the BCCI.
Former Indian cricket team captain Sourav Ganguly replaced GR Viswanath as one of the two cricketers on the governing council.
Shukla will have the company of two former India captains in the governing council – Sourav Ganguly and Ravi Shastri. Earlier, Shukla had resigned from the top post after the IPL spot-fixing scandal broke out in 2013.
He also lost the recent BCCI elections for the post of treasurer to Anirudh Chaudhary.
