Panaji: Botanical Society of Goa is organizing a Konkan fruit fest 2015 to spread awareness about the lesser known fruits of the region.
The three-day fest has been drawing visitors from both domestic as well as foreign tourists. Organisers said the visitors will be introduced to lesser known fruits of the region like Maya, Palmer, Lili and Keit among others. Various types of fruit juices are also available in the exhibition, including Jamun juice (which is good for the cure of diabetes), amla juice, lemon ginger, kokum juice and many others.
While some applauded the efforts of the organisers to inform people about lesser known fruits of the region and their benefits, the others liked the idea that issues like waste segregation were also being taken up. Stalls featuring in the fest include: Western Ghats Kokum Foundation, Parimang al amrai cluster (Alphonso mango), and Arolkar food products, among others.
