Land Acquisition Ordinance renewed for third time

New Delhi, May 30 (ANI): The Union Cabinet for the third time recommended re-promulgation of the Land Acquisition Ordinance on Saturday.

The Cabinet gave approval to re-promulgate the land ordinance which will lapse on 3rd June. Union Cabinet’s recommendation will be sent to President Pranab Mukherjee for its approval.

Communications and IT Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said that Land acquisition ordinance was re-promulgated to maintain continuity, so that there is no disparity regarding compensation to farmer.

Meanwhile, the Cabinet also approved the setting up of a committee headed by PM to commemorate the 125th birth anniversary of Dr BR Ambedkar nationwide.

An agreement on coastal shipping between India-Bangladesh to carry out movement of goods between the two countries was also approved by the Cabinet.
