Chhattisgarh CM admits abduction of Villagers by Naxals but BJP denies it

Raipur: Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh on Saturday admitted that 200-250 villagers had been taken hostage by naxals in Sukma district of Chattisgarh. There were conflicting reports over the numbers of villagers taken hostage by Maoists on a day Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Dantewada, a worst naxal-affected district of Chhattisgarh.

However, BJP leader, RK Singh has rubbished the reports, which suggested that Naxals had abducted 300 people ahead of the PM visit. He said while the Naxals have taken six to seven people with them, the others had gone to discuss issues with the Naxals.

He said that he had a word with the home ministry and any reports of 300 villagers taken hostage by the Naxals in Sukma district of Chhattisgarh are false. Further, he also maintained that CRPF battalions are deployed now at the spot to provide security to the labourers. Earlier reports suggested that 300 villagers were taken hostage by the Naxals while they were on their way attend Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s function in Dantewada.
