Congress and JDU have decided to forge an alliance for the impending Bihar Assembly Elections 2015 scheduled to be held in September-October this year. Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi has taken a decision over this and an official announcement is likely to be made soon after the meeting of Congress Working Committee.
JDU already has the alliance of Lalu Prasad Yadav led Rashtriya Janata Dal, which is supporting the incumbent government. However the rift between the two parties have come out in open over the issue of merger to form Janata Parivar.
According to reports, the sole aim of Congress going along with JDU is to decelerate the growing influence of Bharatiya Janata Party in the country. Congress will support JDU even in the case if the alliance of JDU-RJD ceases to exist.
BJP led National Democratic Alliance is likely to play the Poll field with Ram Vilas Paswan led Lok Jan Shakti Party Upendra Kushwaha led Rashtriya Lok Samata Party. The poll orientation of newly formed Hindustan Awaam Morcha of Former Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi is not clear. His party is likely to play a decisive role in the elections with its significant share of votes.
Rebel RJD Leader Pappu Yadav has already declared 3 candidates for the polls.
