Delhi DTC Bus Drivers go on Indefinite Strike against Murder of Colleague

Bus Drivers and Conductors of Delhi Transport Corporation have gone on an indefinite strike demanding Rs. 1 Crore compensation for their colleague Ashok who was killed yesterday in lynching by a group of bikers.

A Bandh like situation is being observed in Delhi with commuters facing numerous problems. A huge rush was seen on Delhi Metro and private auto-rickshaws.

The staff of DTC are unhappy over the meagre compensation of Rs 5 Lakh for their deceased colleague and the union has demanded Rs. 1 Crore compensation and a job to the kin of deceased.

“There is no safety of drivers & conductors. The compensation of Rs 5 lakhs which has been given to family of deceased is not enough” a DTC driver said.

According to reports the driver Asbok had entered into an altercation with the biker and a fight ensued in which the driver was mercilessly beaten with a helmet and with a cylinder by the bikers.

The driver was admitted to a hospital; however, he succumbed to his injuries. The accused are absconding and the police have taken the accused’s father into custody. Police is trying to nab the accused.
