Chennai, May 22 (ANI): AIADMK supremo J Jayalalithaa on Friday met Tamil Nadu Governor K Rosaiah at the Raj Bhavan in Chennai to stake claim to form the government in the state.
Thousands of people thronged the road leading from Jayalalithaa’s residence to Raj Bhawan to get a glimpse of their leader. People were seen waving AIADMK flags and chanting ‘Amma – Amma’ as their leader’s convoy passed by.
AIADMK leader O Panneerselvam earlier in the day stepped down from his post as the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister as Jayalalithaa was re-elected as the legislature party leader at a meeting held in Chennai.
AIADMK MLAs unanimously elected Jayalalithaa as their leader, thereby, paving way for her to become Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. After meeting the governor, Jayalalithaa paid tribute to AIADMK party founder MG Ramachandran (MGR).
