Kochi: The Kerala Police on May 23 busted a rave party being organized at Hotel Le Meridien, a 5 star hotel in Kochi. Seven people including a Russian DJ were arrested for illegal possession of narcotics.
According to reports, the party was organized on Saturday night and was attended by nearly 300 people. They were charged Rs. 1000 per head.
Vasily Markelov (37) alias ‘ DJ Psykovsky’, was arrested with a packaged powder, which was tested positive for the presence of narcotics. According to Indian Express, Psykovsky was found in possession of 57 grams of ‘Russian secrete’, a mixture of several drugs. Police officer, A. B. Vibin, said the accused would be produced before court in Kochi.
Acting on a tip-off a police team reached the hotel in the evening and examined nearly 300 people, who attended the party.
Those arrested have been sent to judicial custody. They have been charged under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, said the police. However, the Moscow based DJ faces additional charges under the Foreigners Act. He might be barred from getting an India Visa in future again.
The Role of the management of Hotel Le Meridien is being investigated. Police are confirming whether they knew about the usage of narcotics in the Rave Party. While organizing rave party is not a crime, it is often accompanied by Sex, Drugs which makes such parties look suspicious in the eyes of Law Enforcement agencies.
Psykovsky aka Vasily Markelov a famous Russian DJ and a Music Artist. His debut album released in 2005. Together with Kindzadza he is the dj-duo Osom. They also created the label Osom-music together.
