Cannes: Celebrities and stars of cinema wowed the red carpet as the 68th Cannes Film Festival opened on Wednesday (May 13). Famous faces including Sienna Miller, Jake Gyllenhaal and Sophie Marceau arrived on the red carpet with the rest of this year’s Jury, led by the Coen brothers Ethan and Joel, while Natalie Portman was also spotted on the red carpet.
The cast of the festival’s opening movie, “La Tete Haute” were also seen arriving for the ceremony, including French acting legend Catherine Deneuve.
The 68th Cannes Film Festival opens for the first time since 1987 with a woman director’s film, “La Tete Haute” by Emmanuelle Bercot and starring French icon Catherine Deneuve.
Meanwhile, Hollywood is pitching in by holding the world premiere for “Mad Max: Fury Road” on Thursday (May 14). The festival will run until May 24 when the coveted Palme d’Or prize will be awarded to one of 19 films competing for top honours this year.
