Obama promises Gulf Countries to defend them in case of any Attack

Washington DC: US President Barack Obama has assured Saudi led Gulf Leaders that US would be supporting them in case of any external attack, after the Camp David Summit. This move is widely seen in light of as America’s Nuclear deal with Iran which has raised security concerns among Gulf States.

“I am reaffirming our iron-clad commitment to the security of our Gulf partners.”, Obama said.

He said Iran was a top topic of the meetings. “We spent considerable time discussing Iran. I updated our Gulf partners on the negotiations toward a comprehensive deal to prevent Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon, and I’m pleased that here at Camp David, we agree that a comprehensive, verifiable solution that fully addresses the regional and international concerns about Iran’s nuclear program, is in the international…is in the security interests of the international community, including our GCC partners.”

The Gulf leaders stopped short of endorsing a framework for a nuclear deal reached early last month that would offer sanctions relief in return for curbs on Tehran’s nuclear program.
