Raipur, May 28 (ANI): The ‘One Rank One Pension’ (OROP) scheme for ex-servicemen would soon be implemented in India, Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar has said.
OROP has been a long standing demand of ex-servicemen’s associations and relates to payment of uniform pension to defence forces personnel retiring in the same rank with the same length of service, irrespective of their date of retirement.
Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi had met representatives of former military personnel and war widows at the party headquarters in New Delhi on Saturday and assured to mount pressure on the government to get the scheme implement at the earliest.
Meanwhile, Parrikar refused to comment on India-France Rafale jets deal, saying that negotiations were under process and it was not wise to talk about it in this phase.
