Gaya, May 18 (ANI): Police and paramilitary Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) gunned down a woman Maoist rebel in Bihar.
Acting on a tip-off, the security forces conducted the operation in the woods near Barachatti police station area in Gaya district. Meanwhile, police also arrested eight top Maoist rebels active in Gaya district and Aurangabad district.
Police was informed about the presence of Maoists near Koch police station area to collect extortion money from the owner of a construction company.
Police have also recovered cache of arms and ammunition from the nabbed Maoists, who in the past have committed numerous crimes in both the regions and had attacked a Special Auxiliary Police (SAP) team in Goh area of Gaya in July 2013, killing three personnel and getting away with ammunition.
The Maoists, also known as Naxals, seek to overthrow the Indian state having operated for decades across a wide swathe of central and eastern India.
