Vance Joy says, “I think she just must have heard a few of my songs. I guess when I’m choosing support you just look at the music and say, do I like this music and does this person seem like the kind of person that I can deal with having around for a long time. So I’m glad I fit those criteria.”

The Melbourne-based musician describes himself as a singer/songwriter.

“I write most of my songs with a guitar usually. And I like writing – I guess a lot of my songs are love songs or at least the imagery has to do with love. And I guess I also try and go for the heart strings or that’s the music that makes an impact on me.”

And it’s also making an impact on the world, as his breakout hit ‘Riptide’ went five times platinum in his native Australia, three times in Sweden and two times in the U.S., Ireland and Canada.

Joy will join Swift on her tour on May 20th in Bossier City, Louisiana, and will end the collaboration in Sydney, Australia on December 11th.
