Bhopal, May 19 (ANI): Former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Babulal Gaur and present home minister in Shivraj Singh Chouhan’s government has been in the news many times for his comments.
Once again he stirred a controversy by sharing a story of a trip to Russia in his youth at a seminar on naturopathy at the BJP headquarters in Bhopal. A local leader’s wife in Russia, he said, had asked him how his dhoti remained in place without a belt or a zip.
Gaur recalled that in what was apparently intended as witty banter, he said he could teach her the art of draping a dhoti, but in private.
“I told her I can’t teach you how to wear it, but I can certainly teach you how to remove it, but that too later not now,” the MP Home minister was quoted saying.
He also added that women kissing men in public is acceptable in the west, but in India, the same act may cost a politician his chair and an election ticket.
His Comments have been criticized by Opposition Congress. “It is shameful what Gaur has said. He has been making such comments about women time and time again. This exposes his and his party’s mindset as far as women are concerned. Gaur should immediately apologize for his comment,” Congress spokesperson Shobha Oza told ANI.
Last year, in response to Badaun Gang Rape, he commented that “This is a social crime which depends on men and women. Sometimes it’s right, sometimes it’s wrong”. His comment was heavily criticized both by Politicians and Activists. BJP had distanced itself from his comment by claiming that it was his personal opinion and did not reflect party’s stance.
