United Nations says faces tough Road providing Relief in quake-hit Nepal

Kathmandu: The United Nations has said that it is facing a “monumental challenge” to provide relief assistance to earthquake victims in Nepal due to logistical and terrain issues as it tries to reach the number of affected people after another strong earthquake rocked the Himalayan nation.

The UN said there are no plans to increase its flash appeal of $423 million to carry out humanitarian relief in the country following the second earthquake. So far only 15 percent of the total has been raised. The UN is also facing problems accessing people affected by both quakes.

In a government meeting after the quake, Nepal Prime Minister Sushil Koirala vowed to provide relief mission by all means.
