We are at war with Radical Islam: US Presidential Candidate Mike Huckabee

Republican presidential candidate Mike Huckabee on Sunday (May 10) seized on the attack in Texas this week for which Islamic State claimed responsibility as an example of the threat he says the militant group poses to the United States.

“There were all kinds of indications that these two men were being radicalized and had some pretty nefarious thoughts going on. Why didn’t we see that coming?” Huckabee told “Face the Nation” on CBS.

Two men were fatally shot on Sunday after opening fire with assault rifles at a heavily guarded exhibit of caricatures of the Prophet Mohammad in the Dallas suburb of Garland, Texas. The Syria- and Iraq-based Islamic State claimed responsibility, but offered no proof. U.S. officials have said they doubted the militant group’s direct involvement.

Referring to the National Security Agency’s bulk data collection, Huckabee said, “instead of looking at everybody’s metadata, phone records, and email, we really need to be concentrating on those people who’ve been tweeting out threatening comments.”
