Islamabad, June 3 (ANI): About two hundred activists and supporters took to the streets of Pakistani capital to protest against India seeking UN sanctions against Syed Salahuddin, Supreme Commander of Kashmiri militant organization Hizbul Mujahideen.
According to media reports, India has approached the United Nations Security Council to obtain UN sanctions against the Hizbul Mujahedeen chief, who is based in Pakistani Kashmir, in order to declare him an international terrorist under UN Security Council Resolution 1267 of the Al Qaeda Sanctions Committee.
India is also seeking a travel ban and a freeze on his assets. The protesters held Pakistani flags and big portraits of Salahuddin in a demonstration organised by Pakistan’s major Islamic party Jamaat-e-Islami.
India’s National Investigation Agency (NIA) has said it has compiled a dossier against Syed Salahuddin and handed it over to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) for submission before the UN to seek sanctions similar to those issued against the underworld don Dawood Ibrahim.
