The 2015 Pacific Games is all set to begin today at Port Moresby in Papua New Guinea. It would be participated by 24 Pacific Countries including Australia, New Zealand and Papua New Guinea. The Games would continue till July 18 and will witness 28 sports events.
Opening Ceremony
The Opening Ceremony of 2015 Pacific Games would be held at Sir Hubert Murray Stadium at around 6PM local time. The ceremony will be themed closely around the local region’s hiri trade, an important cultural influence. It would be a celebration of Papua New Guinea’s rich cultural history. The ceremony will pay homage to the trade relationship between the Motuan and Gulf Province people and the role this played in shaping historical and modern day PNG. The Ceremony would be participated by over 3000 performers, and almost 300 ceremony staff, approximately 200 of which are volunteers.
