SP forges third front to contest Bihar polls

Patna, Sep 19 (ANI): Six political parties including Pappu Yadav’s Jan Kranti Adhikar Morcha (JKAM) and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) forged an alliance on Saturday under Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Mulayam Singh Yadav to contest the upcoming Bihar Assembly polls. Speaking on the occasion, NCP leader Tariq Anwar said that people of Bihar needed a third alternative as the other two alliances have failed the people. SP is contesting the polls on 85 seats, NCP has got 40 seats, JKAM will pitch his candidates on 64 seats, National Panthers Party is contesting on 3 seats, Samarth Samaj Party has been allotted 28 seats and Samajwadi Janta Party will contest the elections on 23 seats. Elections for the 243-member Bihar Assembly will be held in five phases between October 12 and November 5. Counting of votes will take place on November 8. The term of the current Bihar Assembly comes to an end on November 29.
