HP Governor Acharya Devvrat urges People to donate liberally towards Red Cross

Himachal Pradesh Governor Acharya Devvrat has urged the people to donate liberally towards the State Red Cross so that humanitarian activities could be undertaken to provide succour to the under-privileged. He was speaking in the District level Red Cross Fair at Dharamshala today.

Governor said that efforts should be made by the Red Cross Societies and its members to mobilse resources for speeding up welfare activities and urged them to serve the needy persons with utmost dedication. He said that responsible citizens should associate themselves with the activities of the Red Cross and added that membership drive should be started for increasing the number of volunteers.

He said that whole world was one family and we should feel compassion for our fellow beings in the society and inculcate a sense of belongingness and responsibility towards those in need. This was important to strengthen bonds of fraternity and brotherhood and promoting peace in the society, he added.

He also visited the stalls put up on the occasion and appreciated the efforts of the organizers and suggested them to hold the fair for two days from next year onwards so that the message of service towards the society of Red Cross could reach up to masses.

Acharya Devvrat also honoured life members and distributed wheel chairs and hearing aids to the deserving persons on the occasion. He also gave away prizes to winners of Baby Show organised on the occasion.

A colourful cultural programme was also presented on the occasion

Deputy Commissioner Shri Ritesh Chauhan welcomed the Governor and briefed about the activities of district red cross society.

Officers of District Administration, Members and Volunteers of District Red Cross and People of the town were present on the occasion.
