IIT Patna Student bags Rs. 1.8 Crore Job Offer from Google

Patna: In one of the highest campus placement records till date, Ashutosh Agarwal, a student of Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Patna has bagged Rs. 1.8 Crore Job Offer from Google Inc. Ashutosh is final year Student of Computer Science at IIT Patna.

He had recently completed internship at Google’s New York Facility and was subsequently absorbed by the Search Engine Giant. He has also been champion of Google Summer of Code (GSoC) since his 4th Semester. After recognizing his coding ability in GSoC, he was offered internship by Google and was later offered a job offer letter. It was an off-campus placement by Google and the company didnot visit IIT Patna for the same.

The Company wanted to offer him job immediately after his successful stint at Google Summer Code, however on learning that he wasnot a graduate yet, offered him internship position instead.

Ashutosh hails from Lucknow and is son of entrepreneur parents. He had an outstanding academic record securing 96% marks in 10th and 95%marks in 12th.

His parents, father Gopal Krishna Agarwal and mother Alka Agarwal said, “We are happy about his success. He is jovial, makes people happy and keeps cracking jokes among family and friends.”,

The Google Summer of Code (GSoC) is an international annual program in which Google awards stipends (of US$5,500, as of 2015) to all students who successfully complete a requested free and open-source software coding project during the summer. The program is open to students aged 18 or over.

This year, Google announced the Google Summer of Code 2015 on February 9, 2015. The student application period began on March 16, 2015. The Accepted student proposals were announced on April 27, 2015, with 1051 student proposals accepted. The highest number of GSoC participants came from India (335) followed by the USA (127) and Sri Lanka (58).
