Electricity Consumers in Bihar would soon be able to receive their Electricity Bills on WhatsApp. This is a pilot project starting at Muzaffarpur and shall be extended to other districts soon.
In order to receive the monthly Power Bills via WhatsApp, consumers need to take a photograph of their Kilowatt-hour Meter readings and send it on designated WhatsApp numbers. Upon receiving the meter readings, the company will issue bills based on them and send it back to consumers via WhatsApp. Consumers can later pay the bill online or at designated counters of Power Holding Company.
This scheme is being introduced after lots of consumers complained against Average Billing. In absence of proper meter readings, the Power Companies used to bill consumers based on their power consumption in past as well as power consumption in the area.
Consumers getting excessive amount in bills can also get their bills rectified using this method.
