Elaborate expenditure monitoring mechanism to be place during assembly polls, says CEC Zaidi

New Delhi, Jan 04 (ANI): Elections mean heavy expenditure and this time the Election Commission has taken detailed steps to monitor it. Addressing the mediapersons in the national capital on Wednesday, Chief Election Commissioner Nasim Zaidi said there will be elaborate expenditure monitoring mechanism in place and there will be complete enforcement of their enforcement agencies. Some new initiatives have also been taken by the Election Commission which is as follows: Booth or kiosks, which are set up by the candidates outside the polling stations, will be deemed under the candidate’s own expenses. District election authorities will lay down rates and expenditure returns have been modified recently. Candidates will be required to open accounts in their banks. Political parties will be required to file their part statements. Candidates will be required to file their expenses within 30 days of the result and the political parties have to file their expenses within 75 days of the result.
