Surajpur (Chhattisgarh): Two elephants were electrocuted to death in Chhattisgarh’s Surajpur district. The bodies of an elephant and its calf were found lying in a sugarcane field in a village by locals, who informed the forest officials. According to a forest ranger, Anil Singh, the elephants died of electrocution. He added that the wire, due to which the elephants died, was stolen from the electricity department nearby and was allegedly laid around the sugarcane field to protect the crop from the wild animals. The forest ranger further added that strict action will be taken against the guilty.
