Darjeeling unrest: Locals offer prayers at Mahakal temple for ‘Gorkhaland’

Darjeeling (West Bengal), June 24 (ANI): As the indefinite shutdown called by the Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (GJM) entered its 13th day, the local residents of Darjeeling hills were seen offering their prayers at the Mahakal temple for ‘Gorkhaland’. The whole region is under a volatile situation as the GJM agitators are demanding a separate state while opposing the imposition of Bengali as a compulsory language in the state schools. Earlier, GJM had offered a 12-hour window to the schools in the Darjeeling hills to evacuate their students safely amid the shutdown.
