Indefinite strike in demand for ‘Gorkhaland’ enters 19th day

Darjeeling (West Bengal), June 27 (ANI): The indefinite strike called by the supporters of Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (GJM) in Darjeeling entered its 19th day on Tuesday. Though some people could be seen heading out on the streets, the situation seems to be gloomy reflecting the effects of shutdown. The shutdown was, however, relaxed for 12 hours yesterday on the occasion of Eid-al-Fitr. GJM has been raising its demand for the formation of a separate state of ‘Gorkhaland’ and is also protesting against the alleged imposition of Bengali language in schools.
