India- Afghanistan air corridor’s 1st flight arrives in New Delhi

New Delhi, June 19 (ANI): First flight of the India- Afghanistan air corridor arrived in New Delhi on Monday. External Affairs Minister (EAM) Sushma Swaraj arrived at the Delhi airport to personally witness the flight’s arrival. This flight, which carried 60 tonnes of cargo (mainly hing) was flagged off earlier by Afghanistan President Ashraf Ghani. The flight which will take Indian products to Afghanistan and vice versa, will help in deepening economic engagements between the two nations at minimal costs. This corridor was initiated by President Ghani in 2016 when he had discussed upon it during his visit to India. For the finalisation of this project, an MoU was signed between CEOs of Ariana Airlines and Afghanistan Chambers of Commerce and Industries (ACCI).
